Up for some rambling?
Preston is home to some breath-taking walks and views. Beacon Fell Country Park is a prime example of what natural beauty spots are on offer. Located on the outskirts of Preston, the park features quirky sculptures, a variety of wildlife and stunning woodland to lose yourself in. The country park also boasts some wonderful views from the summit.
If a more urban setting takes your fancy, there are entertaining city walks for all ages, they're educational too!
Soak up some history in Preston's Parks
Enjoy the great outdoors and witness the beautiful and historical sights of Preston's parks.
Avenham and Miller Parks offer multiple peaceful strolls, including along the River Ribble. Discover lots of Victorian gems in these parks such as the Japanese Rock Gardens, statues, fountains and many more.
When you've finished exploring you can put your feet up at the Pavilion café by the river, also the official starting point for the Guild Wheel... With all these things to see, it's hard to believe these stunning parks are only a stumble away from the high street.
For more energetic visitors, Moor Park offers a variety of sporting venues such as Preston Skatepark, basketball courts, football pitches, tennis courts and much more. Being Preston's oldest and largest parkland, Moor Park is a must visit to get stuck in to some sport or enjoy a lengthy wander.
Get back to nature
If you fancy some picturesque days out with some added wildlife then Brockholes nature reserve provides impressive walks, bird-watching, lots of wild animals and plant life.
Preston also boats six other designated nature reserves.
Jump on yer bike
The Guild Wheel is a 21 mile circular cycling route that allows you to experience the urban and rural side of what Preston has to offer. You can opt for the full route or have an easy ride and take a smaller route. Don't fear if you don't have a bike, you can hire a bike from Preston Train Station.
Get up close and personal
For family days out and wildlife lovers there is Turbary Woods Owl and Bird of Prey Sanctuary where there are a variety of birds to view and impressive flying displays to watch.
For the larger furry friends, why not visit Bowland Wild Boar Park. Great for family days out, the park offers chick stroking, tractor rides, feeding animals and lots more fun activities.
