Red balloons from Lancashire Encounter 2016

#LancsEncounter festival, now in its fallow year, is presenting Brief Encounter on the evening of Saturday 23 September in the heart of Preston.

Giving you the chance to relive Lancashire’s arts festival - or Encounter it for the first time. Brief Encounter will feature a packed evening of exciting things to see, do and experience.

What can I see?

A light projection on the Town Hall, Lancaster Road.

The piece will light up two buildings across two dates in Lancashire’s two cities: Preston and Lancaster, bringing to life the grey walls of some familiar city buildings with the story of a child who goes looking for more. The projection will also integrate performances by a community choir formed especially for Trespass working with communities from Preston, Lancaster, Blackburn and Skelmersdale.

You can also see 'The illumaphonium', standing over three and half meters tall and made up of two hundred illuminated chime bars, and 'The Umbrella Tree', (picture below) a botanical, mechanical contraption designed to bemuse, baffle, delight and amuse children of all ages.

Mini procession of light

Luminous Landscapes is a mini procession through the streets of Preston, in a nod to #LancsEncounter’s Procession of Light held in 2016. Luminous Landscapes is themed around ‘Lancashire landscape and belonging’ and is a spectacular parade with the ‘Landscape Giant’ (picture below).
