Lancashire Encounter returns 21 - 23 September 2018...

This year's annual Lancashire Encounter Festival takes place over the weekend of 21-23 September. This full-scale arts festival will bring the heart of Preston city centre to life, seeing events at The Harris, Preston Flag Market, Preston Markets, Winckley Square and Avenham Park.

For the full programme and more details on the festival visit Lancashire Encounter.

What is Lancashire Encounter?

The Lancashire Encounter Festival is the key cultural event for Central Lancashire and a driver for the development of Lancashire’s arts and cultural offer.

Taking place over a full weekend in September, the festival is an authentic voice for Lancashire, celebrating the breadth of the County's diverse cultural offer with a high quality, high profile arts festival.

What's happening in 2018?

Spread over three days, Encounter promises not to disappoint, with each day offering something new.

Check out the Harris, filled with exciting workshops, performances and installations - all inspired by the Harris’ Lancashire collections and stories.

Or, why not visit the recently restored Winckley Square Gardens and take in one of the amazing outdoor performances. Here, you can listen to the newly formed Lancashire community choir - made up of voices from across the County - performing new songs and those more recognisable.

Enjoy a magical Lancashire procession bringing together different communities, or revel in Lancashire One: an evening of lively, fast-paced, warm-hearted performances that capture the authentic charms and voices of contemporary Lancashire.

After enjoying the festival's packed programme, why not cap off the whole weekend with a finale outdoor performance in Avenham Park on the Sunday afternoon.
