Ribble Steam Railway
Hop Aboard a Steam Train and Discover the History of Preston's Docks and Railway...
With Ribble Steam Railway's fascinating working and static exhibits, the museum is a proud reminder of so much that makes Preston and Lancashire the vibrant centres they are today.
A Day out with a Difference
Found in the heart of Preston’s historic docklands, the museum makes an exciting day out, providing a full sensory experience of a working railway that both stimulates and invigorates the senses.
Whether you’re a keen steam enthusiast or just looking for somewhere interesting to visit with the family, you’re guaranteed a memorable experience amid Lancashire’s world famous industrial heritage.
Discover the history of Preston‘s docks and the stories of the first electrical trains, then hop aboard a steam train and travel the railway’s one and a quarter mile dock and riverside line. Uncover a hidden part of the city as the line passes Preston Marina and ventures over its impressive swing bridge. There’s also a miniature railway, especially for children, situated amongst the museum’s restored engines.
Make sure you don’t miss out on the opportunity to view industrial engines and locomotives being restored in the workshop and then relax with a snack in the museum’s café overlooking the locomotives.
