Preston Guild City

Guild Wheel

Group of women cycling in outdoor green space

Preston Guild Wheel

The Guild Wheel is a 21-mile walking and cycling route, which encircles Preston and provides a link from the city to the countryside. The official start and finish of the Guild Wheel is the Pavilion Café in Avenham Park - which formed an integral part of the most recent Guild celebrations in 2012.

The Preston Guild Wheel is a great way to make the most of the many forms of landscapes that make this city what it is – by rambling river and canal sides to ancient woodland, city centre parkland, historic docklands and attractive nature reserves.

The Guild Wheel is a must for all outdoor activity and biking enthusiasts. So, whether you fancy making a day of it by challenging yourself to the full route, or prefer jumping at one of the main entry points for a quick cycle, you can be sure this impressive ‘greenway’, in whatever direction you’re heading and for whatever length, will make for an enjoyable day or afternoon out.

It’s a community venture too, the city and county council joined forces with dedicated users groups to create a truly lasting legacy that promises to be part of Lancashire for many more Guilds to come.
