Avenham and Miller Parks
Take a stroll around one of the finest examples of Victorian Parkland in the North West
Avenham and Miller Parks offer both residents and visitors a beautiful green outdoor space in a tranquil setting on the banks of the River Ribble. Situated on the doorstep of the city centre, a short walk from the main business and shopping areas, and less than 10 minutes from Preston's rail and bus stations, it is easily accessible for those visiting the city centre.
Despite being so close to the heart of Preston City Centre, it is somehow far removed from it. The natural amphitheatre in Avenham offers a perfect spot to picnic and watch the world go by, overlooking Avenham Pavilion and the Japanese Rock Garden.
Miller Park, more formal in appearance, is full of historic points of interest, including Derby Walk, its Italianate Terrace, a listed fountain, and the Derby Memorial Statue, commemorating past Preston MP and Prime Minister, Frederick Stanley, the 16th Earl of Derby.
Avenham and Miller Parks are easily accessible by foot, car and bike with two national cycle routes and the Guild Wheel passing through them. Furthermore, the Ribble Way national trail also follows the course of the river next to the parks.
For more information see Preston City Council - Avenham and Miller Parks.
Award Winning Grade II Listed Parkland
Having retained their coveted Green Flag Award status since 2008, the parks are also Grade II* listed with some of their historic structures including the Belvedere and Swiss Chalet, emphasising Avenham and Miller as among the finest public Victorian English Heritage parkland in Lancashire and the country.
Avenham and Miller Parks have also earned a Certificate of Excellence Award 2016 from Trip Advisor.
The Pavilion café is the perfect place to take a few moments out in between exploring the beautiful park space.
With a quality selection of food and drink, plus free WIFI, you can relax and enjoy a coffee or quick bite to eat whilst staying connected.
For more information around the Pavilion Café, including opening times and menus, see Preston City Council - The Pavilion Café.
