About Preston Guild 2012

Hosting a multitude of events and processions, the Preston Guild 2012 was a huge success packed with spirit...

The 2012 Guild saw four amazing processions as well as events, with over 20,000 people taking part. To relive the festivities and view photos from the events visit Flikr - Preston Guild 2012.

The Preston Guild Mayor, Councillor Carl Crompton, had this to say:

"Thank you to everyone who took part in Preston Guild 2012.

To be Guild Mayor of such a wonderful city has been a truly humbling and moving experience. The whole of Preston, young and old, from every aspect of our proud and diverse communities came together to celebrate as one.

Throughout Guild week, the smiles on people’s faces, the electric atmosphere and the sheer sense of fun and carnival were simply a joy to behold.

It was magnificent to witness the historic Guild courts, as well as the spectacular processions, which attracted record crowds.

This 800 years of tradition somehow just complemented beautifully the modern day festival spirit that brought the whole city to life.

The throngs of people in Avenham and Miller Parks and the glorious sunshine were fabulous memories to treasure forever. It truly was a people Guild to be proud of.

Preston is ever so fortunate to have such a wonderful tradition and legacy of the Guild. Our generation now passes the baton to the next generation with Preston Guild 2032."
